SkyView exacts data from a variety of data sources such as HOST, ARTS, ACES, VirtualEarth and GTOPO30 to give an interactive visual presentation.

Comprehensive data sources for measuring aviation performance

SkyView® can be adapted for any suitable air traffic data source, air traffic data display, ASCII or binary, socket-based (TCP/IP, UDP) or file based. SkyView currently has adapters for many track and flightplan data source formats such as FAA Host, ERAM, STARS, ARTS IIIA, Common ARTS (CARTS), E-ARTS, ASDI/ETMS, ASDE-X, Asterix, PDARS and NOP. In addition, SkyView is able to ingest, process and incorporate in its reports and images a wide range of aeronautical and GIS data.

Details

Airports and Runways ACES, NFDC, ERAM, AIXM SkyView extracts airports from ACES, ERAM and NFDC and merges with runway data from NFDC. Runway endpoint location and elevation are used by SkyView to compute flight events (takeoff and landing), which serve as the basis for runway counts reports.
Aircraft Characteristics ACES, FAA Air Traffic Publications SkyView relies on its aircraft types database for information related to specific aircraft.  The aircraft type data (weight class, climb rates, etc) is culled from the FAA's Air Traffic Publication JO 7340.2A and the ACES data ACHR tables. This data is used, along with call signs, etc, by SkyView to determine carrier and operation types for individual flights.
Fixes, Waypoints, DMEs and VORs, etc. ACES, NFDC, ERAM, AIXM SkyView extracts fixes, navaids, waypoints, and RNAV report points from ACES, ERAM, AIXM and NFDC.  These data serve as the basis for various airspace infrastructure map displays, route computations (filed vs. flown, etc), and various metric reports for traffic measurement (MIT reporting over fixes, etc).
Approaches, STARS, etc. ACES, NFDC, ERAM, AIXM STARs are compiled from various airspace databases and managed along with routes in the SkyView airspace databases.
Departures, SIDs, etc. ACES, NFDC, ERAM, AIXM SIDs are compiled from various airspace databases and managed along with routes in the SkyView airspace databases.
Surveillance Systems: Radar, ADS-B, etc. HOST, ARTS IIIA, STARS, EARTS, ASDE-X, ASDI Various system-specific SkyView Tapclient applications collect data from ATC sources and generate normalized data from which SkyView synthesizes flight information. Tapclients for particular surveillance systems are written using Interface Control Documents and then adapted for individual sites using adaptation parameters provided by the site/facility.
Video Maps, Sectors and

ACES, NFDC, ERAM SkyView extracts FPA/FAV and sector data from ACES and ERAM and transforms them into SkyView data. SkyView then uses these for various airspace computations (crossing events, sector flight time, etc).
Towers, Ramps, Taxiways, and Gates ASDE-X airfield adaptation Airfield diagrams from ASDE-X are collected and converted using SkyView’s GIS functions. These diagrams designate runways, taxiways, ramps, and other areas, allowing SkyView to generate separate metrics (crossing events, etc) as aircraft move through the different portions of the airfield (e.g., taxi-time metrics).
Weather, wind and visibility NOAA, FAA Technical Center SkyView collects, processes, and archives weather products from various sources. Weather data types includeMETAR, NOWRAD, CCFP, NCWF, Lightning, Jetstream, and Echo Tops data. These data are processed for SkyView visualization and animation of high resolution weather.  SkyView also processes Rapid Update Cycle (RUC) Grib and Grib2 files for wind vector data and RRM 10km files for low resolution weather.
Traffic Flow Management data NTML, TFM ADL (AAR, ADR), Playbook, FEA/FCA/AFP, Restrictions, TAF
GIS data AJW-37 (NACO), USGS SkyView collects data from AJW-37 - National Aeronautical Navigation Services (Formerly NACO) and the USGS. This includes Terminal, Sectional and World aeronautical charts and Digital Controller Charts, as well as elevation data, topographical layer maps, National Land Classification Data images, aerial/satellite photography, census data, and other political and environmental boundary data.
Automatic Terminal Information Service ADIS SkyView processes digital ATIS data such as provided by NASA’s ADIS system.
Imagery

USGS, Virtual Earth

SkyView collects aerial and satellite imagery from various sources, particularly the U.S. Geological Survey’s ortho-rectified metropolitan area imagery sets and Microsoft’s Virtual Earth.

SkyView exacts data from a variety of data sources such as HOST, ARTS, ACES, VirtualEarth and GTOPO30 to give an interactive visual presentation as seen in the image above.
